A Cypriot citizen or a citizen of another country residing in Cyprus who has been injured in a traffic accident in another European country can claim compensation by initiating legal proceedings in Cyprus. They are provided with the opportunity to file a lawsuit in the Cypriot courts and to be represented by a Cypriot lawyer.
According to current European directives and regulations regarding insurance for civil liability arising from the use of motor vehicles, a victim of a traffic accident who has been injured as a result of a traffic accident within the European Union in a country other than the one in which they reside will be able to claim compensation in their country of residence for the settlement of damages against a representative appointed by the insurance company of the party that caused the accident.
