Accidents on Boats/Ships

A person who has been injured on a ship has the right to file a claim before the Cypriot courts to recover compensation

A person who has been injured on a ship has the right to file a claim before the Cypriot courts to recover compensation related to physical injury and/or loss of life that they may have suffered, which may have been caused by a defect in the ship or its equipment and/or due to an unlawful act, negligence, or omission by the owner, charterer, holder, captain, and/or crew of the ship.

The primary jurisdiction to hear and decide on such claims belongs to the Cypriot Admiralty Court, which is generally the competent court to hear and decide on all maritime cases.
