Accidents in Public or Private Areas
Liability Claims - when injured or made ill due to carelessness of others
If someone else was responsible for your injury or illness because they didn’t take the right amount of care, you may be eligible to make a claim. Generally speaking, this also applies when you have sustained an injury or illness because another party has breached their duty of care towards you/others, or if there has been a fatality/death.
Such liability claims cover incidents that happen in public areas in Cyprus, as well as in private areas. We can help in the process of making such a claim.
Some examples that fall under the liability claims umbrella include:
- Falls, slips, trips on public or private property
- Injuries on private property including rental properties
- Unsafe premises, such as balconies, stairways, elevators or walking areas
- Physical assaults
- Dog bites/attacks or injuries done by other animals
- Sexual assaults or sexual abuse claims, among other, and
- Fatalities/deaths in such spaces

When it comes to compensation amounts for personal injuries, there is no definite answer that can apply across the board. Overall, one may claim for general damages and special damages. But of course, every personal injury is different and therefore compensation amounts can vary greatly, depending on a number of factors. For instance, the severity or nature of the injury, likely recovery time and prognosis, as well as various damages need to be taken into account. These are just some examples of factors; there are many elements that need to be taken into consideration and depending on consequences.
When assessing compensation for a claim, reference is also made to expert medical reports, Cyprus case law and of course, the wider legal system.
